A defibrillator can be the difference between life and death during a cardiac arrest – but only if it’s working when needed.
Sadly, there have been cases where defibrillators have failed at the crucial moment, simply because they weren’t properly maintained.
Like a car, defibrillators need regular servicing:
- Batteries last approximately 4 years
- Electrode pads need replacing every 2 years
- The unit itself typically needs replacing after 10 years
Keeping our public defibrillators ready
Steyning Area First Responders (SAFeR) checks all 16 public defibrillators in Steyning, Bramber, Beeding, Wiston and Ashurst every month – giving our community vital peace of mind.
Can you help?
However, SAFeR cannot access defibrillators at workplaces or private clubs. If your organisation has a defibrillator, please ensure you’re checking it regularly.
A few minutes of maintenance could save a life.
